Horses for adoption and other rescue animals for rehoming:

There are many reasons why animals are brought to Margaret Green Animal Rescue - animals that are no longer wanted, stray animals, people no longer being able to look after their animals. We strive to find a new loving home which can offer these animals the love, care and attention they deserve.

Please take a look below at the ever changing collection of animals and rescue horses we have available for rehoming from our animal sanctuary in Dorset. We don't just have horses for adoption, we also rehome goats, sheep, donkeys and even terrapins.

Harvey (d.o.b. June 1996) is a 15hh2 grey roan Irish Draft X Thoroughbred gelding. Harvey has some behavioural problems and needs an experienced home with plenty of time and patience. Sadly, Harvey cannot be ridden but would love an active companion home where he could have a one-to-one relationship with his owner. Harvey loves attention on his terms and is very sweet when you get to know him.

Jules (born July 2005) is a grey roan 11hh Welsh X gelding.  He was rescued as a 3 month old foal and hand reared at the Sanctuary.  Jules has recently been backed and is doing very well and he is a very quick learner with an inquisitive manner.  We hope he may make a nice show or gymkhana pony in future.

Bread and Butter (born Sep 90) are 11hh2 grey Shetland ponies.  They are very easy to care for and have no health problems.  They are broken to ride and drive and are looking for a home together as either companions or to do some light work.  They would make fantastic children's ponies as they are very friendly and seem bombproof.  Bread and Butter love to be the centre of attention and enjoy being groomed.

Casanova (d.o.b. May 1991) is a 17hh1 bright bay Cleveland Bay X Thoroughbred gelding. He was orphaned as a 3 month old foal and subsequently can suffer from separation anxiety. Casanova has now been backed and lightly ridden at the Sanctuary but is looking for an experienced home where he can enjoy some light hacking and maybe more. Casanova is a gorgeous horse with a lovely nature.

Squirrel (d.o.b. 20 April 1998) is an 10hh2 chestnut Shetland X New Forest mare. Squirrel has been backed by staff and ridden by children at the Sanctuary. She is a safe lead rein pony or would make a good companion to a laminitic pony. Squirrel has only had laminitis once but is prone to weight gain. Squirrel is a very pretty pony but can be 'mareish' so would need to be handled by an experienced adult.
